An Introduction to Loose Leaf Tea

Tea is the second most-consumed beverage after water in the world, but with so many varieties, it may seem an intimidating topic to explore on your own. This class is intended to demystify specialty loose leaf tea.

Your exploration begins with an understanding of the various types of tea produced from the Camellia Sinensis, the tea plant. You will learn about the traditional styles of production used to create white, green, oolong, black and pu’erh tea. You’ll examine the basic characteristics of these varieties by exploring the major growing regions, the role of terroir, processing methods, and proper steeping and storage.

Sheila Duda, a Certified Tea Specialist, teaches the class in a fun, lighthearted style. You will leave with knowledge and confidence to purchase and prepare a variety loose leaf teas.
